ADC youths issue 74-hour ultimatum to INEC in Katsina protest

Youths of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday staged a peaceful protest in Katsina, calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address concerns over the party’s leadership.

The protest, themed “Amupitan Must Go,” ended with the group issuing a 74-hour ultimatum to INEC, warning that failure to act could lead to further lawful civic actions nationwide.

Led by Jamilu Yahaya, the demonstrators marched along Daura Road before converging at the Katsina State INEC office, where they submitted a formal letter through an official representative of the Resident Electoral Commissioner.

In their demands, the protesters urged INEC to restore the David Mark-led leadership of the ADC on its official portal. They also called for a public apology to Nigerians over actions they claim undermined constitutional order.

The group further urged the commission to refrain from acting on pending motions or non-binding processes without clear court rulings, stressing the need for strict neutrality in party affairs.

They warned that recent actions attributed to INEC could disrupt preparations for the party’s forthcoming national convention and raise concerns about the commission’s impartiality.

Receiving the letter on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC Administrative Secretary in Katsina, Ibrahim Dari, assured the protesters that their concerns would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities.
