The Snaresbrook Crown Court has confirmed that popular Nigerian socialite and dancer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, is due to appear before the court in connection with an assault charge.
The London-based court confirmed the development in exclusive correspondence with The Telegraph on Tuesday, following an inquiry by the newspaper over an alleged sexual assault involving the entertainer.
The Telegraph had contacted the court on Monday seeking clarification on reports surrounding the case.
In its response, the court’s Admin Team Lead, James Baker, confirmed that the matter is official and listed for plea and trial preparation on September 15, 2026.
However, Baker said the court could not provide the specific time or courtroom details ahead of the hearing.
He wrote: “OFFICIAL. Good afternoon. I can confirm that this case is currently listed at Snaresbrook Crown Court for plea and trial preparation on the 15th September 2026.
“Criminal Court hearings are open to the public. Precise times and courtroom information will not be available until the day before the hearing. Many thanks.”
The confirmation follows a statement by the founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as Oluomo of Derby, who told The Telegraph on Monday that Poco Lee was being held in a UK prison and was expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15.
Kuti said he was familiar with the development because he regularly attends court proceedings and provides support to Nigerians involved in legal matters in the UK.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” he said.
He explained that a plea hearing typically involves the defendant indicating whether they intend to plead guilty or not guilty to the charge.
Kuti added that he intended to attend the proceedings as part of his support for members of the Nigerian community in the UK.
The court’s confirmation has now corroborated the reported court appearance, with the case formally listed for plea and trial preparation on September 15, 2026.
Poco Lee is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
