Dangote offers ₦500,000 reward for information on illegal use of its trucks

Dangote Industries Limited has launched a public whistle-blowing initiative aimed at curbing illegal haulage activities involving its trucks, offering a ₦500,000 cash reward to individuals who provide credible information leading to the arrest of offenders or recovery of unauthorised goods.

The company said the initiative is part of its broader efforts to safeguard the integrity of its logistics operations and prevent the misuse of Dangote-branded trucks by individuals engaged in unauthorised transportation activities.

In a statement, Dangote urged members of the public to report suspected cases of illegal haulage involving its vehicles, stressing that trucks operated by its subsidiaries are restricted to transporting only approved products.

The company explained that Dangote Cement trucks are authorised to carry only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are limited to transporting sugar products.

Similarly, vehicles belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are designated for the transportation of Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging trucks are restricted to bags and packaging materials.

The company added that trucks operated by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are permitted to transport polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are authorised to haul urea fertiliser.

Dangote warned that any company truck found carrying unauthorised goods would be regarded as being involved in illegal haulage, with both the driver and owners of the cargo liable to arrest, confiscation of goods and prosecution under relevant laws.

“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorised goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the company said.

To assist enforcement efforts, the company advised whistleblowers to provide detailed information, including the truck type, registration number, cab number, location, description of the goods being transported, truck colour and photographs of the vehicle and cargo where available.

Dangote said it has established dedicated reporting channels across its operations to receive complaints about illegal haulage activities involving trucks operating from its Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants.

The company added that law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been authorised to arrest drivers found using Dangote trucks for unauthorised commercial haulage.

Dangote reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards logistics-related fraud, saying the initiative is designed to protect company assets, strengthen accountability and promote compliance across its nationwide transportation network.

“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities. We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system,” the company added.

The group said all reports received would support ongoing efforts to protect the Dangote brand, promote lawful business practices and ensure that offenders face appropriate sanctions.
