JAMB debunks viral 394 UTME result slip as fake

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has debunked a purported Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result circulating online, which claims that a candidate scored 394 out of 400 in the 2026 examination, describing it as entirely fake.

The result, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), allegedly belongs to a candidate identified as Okon Winniefred Sampson.

In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the Board expressed concern over the circulation of the fabricated result, noting that it has been widely shared even among unsuspecting members of the public.

JAMB stressed that the result slip does not conform to its official format and is inconsistent with its result-checking system.

According to the Board, UTME results are currently accessible only through its official platforms and are strictly “view-only,” meaning candidates cannot download or print official slips at this stage.

It further noted that the document in circulation appears to be generated from a fake template, which immediately invalidates its authenticity.

The Board also highlighted that the registration number on the alleged result does not match its standard system-generated format, pointing specifically to an irregular “20269” pattern as a clear indication of fraud.

JAMB added that multiple inconsistencies in the document easily expose it as counterfeit, even on casual inspection.

The examination body urged the public to disregard the fake result and rely only on official channels for accurate information regarding UTME performance.

“All results at the moment are view-only,” the statement added.
