Suspects arrested with human skull in Imo
The Imo State Police Command has arrested three men in the Ogii community, Okigwe Local Government Area, for allegedly possessing a human skull.

The suspects, identified as Patrick Okoere (29), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20), were apprehended following a tip-off from local residents.

According to Imo State police spokesperson Henry Okoye, the trio was arrested on February 3 along the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway with a human skull, a native hen, and white garments.

Okoere, one of the suspects, reportedly told police that his uncle, Osunta Oko, had instructed him to acquire a human skull for use in a land dispute. He claimed to have found the skull by a riverbank in an area notorious for kidnappings.

In a statement, Okoye said: “As part of the Imo State Police Command’s ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities, operatives from Okigwe divisional headquarters, in collaboration with the Ogii community, arrested the three suspects on February 3, 2025. They were found in possession of a human skull, a native hen, and white garments along the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway.”

He continued, “During interrogation, Patrick Okoere stated that his uncle, Osunta Oko, had asked him to obtain a human skull. He claimed to have discovered it near a riverbank along the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway, an area where the police have received reports of kidnapping activities.”

The police are now investigating Osunta Oko and other potential accomplices involved in the case. Additionally, a DNA test is underway to determine the identity of the skull’s owner.

Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, reassured the public of the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. He emphasized that justice would be served and the suspects would face prosecution once the investigation is completed.

Okoye added that further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
