NAF neutralises terrorists in Adamawa, Borno air operations

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified air operations against terrorist groups in Adamawa and Borno States, conducting coordinated strikes on suspected hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns and Mandara Mountains in the North-East.

The operations, carried out on 19 May 2026 under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and Chikide in the Mandara Mountain range.

According to the Air Force, the strikes were based on credible intelligence and confirmed through Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which identified terrorist logistics hubs, structures, and assembly points concealed within the areas.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF said several terrorists were neutralised during the operations, while planned attacks were successfully disrupted.

The statement added that the air raids also destroyed logistics facilities and other operational infrastructure used by insurgents in the affected enclaves.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to sustained joint military operations aimed at restoring lasting peace across the country.

He said the Air Force would continue to work closely with sister services and international partners to eliminate terrorist threats nationwide.

Aneke further stressed that intelligence-driven air campaigns would be sustained to locate and destroy terrorist hideouts, logistics networks, and operational bases wherever they are found.
