Court orders final forfeiture of Aisha Achimugu’s ₦8.9bn assets to FG

Justice Jude Onwugbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth about ₦8.9 billion linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal Government.

The forfeited assets include jewellery valued at ₦4.65 billion, 11 exotic vehicles worth ₦4.29 billion, $50,000 and ₦30 million in cash.

Justice Onwugbuzie gave the order while ruling on an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), seeking the permanent forfeiture of the assets.

The EFCC had asked the court to forfeit the properties to the Federal Government, alleging that they were linked to unlawful activities.

In granting the application, the court ordered the final forfeiture of the jewellery, vehicles and cash to the Federal Government.
