Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced a reduction in the price of aviation fuel (Jet A1) to ₦1,650 per litre, down from ₦1,750 per litre.

In a statement issued by its media team on Tuesday, the company said the price cut is aimed at easing cost pressures on airlines and ensuring a more stable and uninterrupted fuel supply across the country.

The refinery also introduced a 30-day interest-free credit facility, supported by bank guarantees, for marketers and airline operators. It further disclosed a shift from a dollar-denominated pricing structure to a naira-based model.

The measures come amid concerns over rising operating costs in the aviation sector, where Jet A1 fuel represents a significant share of airline expenditure.

Industry stakeholders have repeatedly warned that sustained increases in aviation fuel prices are placing financial strain on operators and threatening the viability of flight operations.

According to the statement, the interventions are expected to provide relief to airlines by lowering fuel procurement costs, improving operational stability, and helping to moderate airfares across the sector.
