Juventus sack Motta, appoint Tudor as new head coach

Thiago Motta
Juventus FC has officially parted ways with Thiago Motta, relieving him of his duties as the Men’s First Team coach.

In a statement released on Sunday, the club expressed its gratitude to Motta and his staff for their professionalism and commitment throughout their tenure.

The club also confirmed the appointment of Igor Tudor as the new head coach, with Tudor set to lead his first training session on Monday, March 24.

The statement, titled “Thiago Motta No Longer First Team Coach, Igor Tudor Takes Over,” read:

“Juventus FC announces that Thiago Motta has been relieved of his duties as Men’s First Team coach. The club would like to thank Thiago Motta and his entire staff for their professionalism, passion, and dedication in recent months. We wish them the best of luck for the future.

“Juventus FC also announces that the Men’s First Team will now be led by Igor Tudor, who will take charge of his first training session tomorrow, Monday, 24 March.”

According to The Telegraph, the decision to part ways with Motta came after a series of disappointing performances, including consecutive heavy defeats.

Motta’s tenure, lasting around eight months, saw Juventus struggling to maintain their traditional dominance in Serie A. The team suffered damaging losses, including a 4-0 home defeat to Atalanta—Juventus’ worst home loss since 1967. These setbacks have left the club in fifth place in the league, putting their qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League at risk.

As reported by Football Italia, Tudor, a former Juventus player and assistant coach, has managerial experience with clubs such as Marseille and Lazio. His immediate goal will be to stabilize the team’s performance and improve results.

Tudor’s appointment is initially set to run until June 30, with the possibility of an extension based on the team’s progress and achievements.
