The Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has suspended its indefinite strike following a review of the security situation in the state.

The decision was announced on Wednesday in a statement jointly signed by the state NUT Chairman, Hassan Fatai, and Secretary, Olukayode Salami.

According to the union, the suspension followed consultations with the Oyo State Government and other stakeholders, as well as a reassessment of prevailing security concerns.

The NUT said the review of the situation informed its decision to call off the industrial action, paving the way for teachers to resume duties across public schools in the state.

The union had embarked on the strike over concerns arising from the abduction of schoolchildren in Ogbomosho in Orire Local Government Area, demanding improved security measures in schools.
