The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has denied reports claiming it is selling scrap materials, equipment, or refinery components to individuals or private companies.
In a statement issued Friday in Abuja, the company described the claims as false and misleading. The statement, titled “Fraudulent Claims on Sale of Refinery Scrap and Equipment,” was signed by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh.
“NNPC Limited wishes to categorically state that this information is untrue. The company has not issued any request for bids, tenders, expressions of interest, or approvals for the sale of scrap materials, refinery components, or any items from its refineries,” the statement said.
NNPC also distanced itself from individuals posing as its representatives and claiming to facilitate the sale of refinery scrap or equipment.
“These individuals are not authorised by NNPC Limited and are attempting to mislead members of the public,” it added.
The company urged the public, corporate organisations, and industry stakeholders to disregard such claims and exercise caution when approached with related offers.
“For the avoidance of doubt, NNPC Limited is not conducting, nor has it authorised, any sale of scrap metals, equipment, or refinery components from any of its facilities,” the statement stressed.
It added that any legitimate disposal of assets would be carried out through established, transparent processes and communicated via official company channels in line with regulatory requirements.
NNPC further advised anyone approached with such offers to report the matter to law enforcement authorities.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the responsible management of national energy assets.
