Vice-President Kashim Shettima has departed Johannesburg for Luanda, Angola, where he will represent President Bola Tinubu at the African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit scheduled to hold this week.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.

Shettima had earlier attended the 20th Summit of G20 Leaders in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nkwocha said the Vice-President left South Africa on Sunday and is expected to join other Heads of State and Government from the African Union and the European Union for the 7th AU–EU meeting.

According to him, the summit will run from Monday to Wednesday in Luanda, the Angolan capital.

“The AU–EU meeting will bring together young leaders, innovators and civil society organisations to deliberate on shared challenges facing both unions,” Nkwocha said.

He added that the summit will focus on proffering solutions in areas such as climate change, inclusive development, infrastructure, the digital economy, the creative sector, manufacturing, and agribusiness.

Vice-President Shettima is scheduled to return to Nigeria at the end of the summit.
