Wema Bank rewards outstanding teachers

As part of its commitment to promote qualitative teaching and learning, Wema Bank recently rewarded teachers for their contribution to the overall development of the child.

The competition is an innovative campaign targeted at celebrating and rewarding outstanding teachers who have made positive impacts in the teaching profession.

The event, which was held in Lagos, witnessed the presentation of cheques to top three teachers that emerged in the competition. Olawale Gbenusola from Vetland Senior Grammar School, Lagos, emerged winner and was rewarded with two million cash prize, while the first runner up, Raheem Hassan from Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School, Lagos, got N1.5 million, and Adeniran Adedoyin, from Dolphin Junior High School, Lagos, emerged second runner up and went home with a cash price of one million naira.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Moruf Oseni, said the financial institution is committed to promoting excellence and innovation in the education sector.

He said teachers deserve to be celebrated for their tireless efforts in shaping young minds and molding their future.

“At Wema Bank, we are proud to honor these teachers for their dedication to service. We believe when the sector is properly supported, our children will be impacted positively, and the country will benefit.”

In her remarks, Adedoyin said: “I am excited and happy to be recognised. Teachers should not be ignored, we deserve to be celebrated for our hardwork, and I applaud the bank for coming up with this initiative.”

The competition involved students nominating teachers who have impacted their lives. Over 60 entries were received and meticulously reviewed to identify top 10 teachers. From the pool of top 10, three exceptional winners were chosen.
