JAMB releases 2025 UTME results, withholds 39,834 others

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday announced the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, while withholding 39,834 over suspected exam malpractices and other infractions.

Speaking at the official result release in Bwari, Abuja, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede said the board is investigating 80 suspects, with Anambra State recording the highest number of cases.

Of the withheld results, 1,426 are under further scrutiny, while 96 were confirmed as cases of malpractice—a slight drop from 123 cases last year. Another 2,157 candidates experienced biometric issues, including fingerprint mismatches during registration.

“We observed new trends this year, particularly in identity and biometric fraud, such as combined thumbprints and impersonation at registration points,” Oloyede said.

The registrar noted that 244 candidates were linked to “WhatsApp runs” and had their results seized, while 3,656 others had results withheld due to the use of “extraneous fingerprints,” allegedly facilitated by some CBT centres.

The implicated centres include: Tigh Technologies Ltd., Abuja, Sascon International School, Maitama, Abuja, and Wudil Computer Information Technology, Kano State and Penta M & Centre 2, Tambuwal LGA, Sokoto.

Four centres were also delisted for technical deficiencies: Adventure Associate, Kano, Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria, Soronara Ventures, Imo State, HSS Amazing, Ogun State

JAMB registered 1,957,000 candidates this year, with 71,705 absent from the exam. A total of 41,027 underage candidates sat for the UTME, with 467 scoring highly, though one was disqualified for malpractice.

Of the 501 candidates with disabilities who were supported through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group, one was involved in impersonation.

Oloyede reaffirmed the board’s commitment to integrity, warning that a full list of blacklisted centres and individuals will be published soon.

Despite the irregularities, he described the 2025 UTME as one of the board’s most successful to date.

Candidates can check their results by texting “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number used during registration. Printing of results will be available later.
