Monaco to terminate Paul Pogba’s contract

Paul Pogba is set to leave Monaco after the Ligue 1 club announced on Wednesday that it had agreed to terminate the midfielder’s contract following a series of injuries.

The 33-year-old former Manchester United and Juventus star, who helped France win the 2018 World Cup, has struggled to regain his best form since returning from a doping ban.

Pogba joined Monaco with hopes of rebuilding his career at the top level, but his time at the club has been disrupted by persistent fitness problems.

In a statement, Monaco said the objectives set out when Pogba joined the club had been “only partially achieved”, prompting both parties to bring an early end to his contract, which was due to run until June 2027.

Pogba is currently sidelined with a thigh injury after recently returning from a knee problem.

Despite his limited time on the pitch, Monaco praised the midfielder for his professionalism and influence within the squad.

The club highlighted his “remarkable mindset, determination and unwavering high standards”, adding that he continued to make a positive contribution while injured by sharing his experience and knowledge with his teammates.

Pogba’s departure marks another setback in a career that once saw him establish himself as one of the world’s leading midfielders.
