Nigeria’s women 4x100m team, secured gold at the African Senior Athletics Championship beating perennial rivals Ghana who won silver.
The team anchored by record holder Tobi Amusan secured gold with a time of 42.76 seconds.
Amusan was a doubt for the finals after falling ill the night before.
Nigeria started the sprint relay with Justina Eyakpobeya running the opening leg before handing the baton to Tima Godbless.
The Gold medal was all but assured when Godbless handed the baton to Olayinka Olajide.
The 100m hurdles world record holder at 12.12 seconds only needed to switch gear to blow away the rest of the field, coasting home in 42.72 seconds to get the gold into Nigeria’s collection.
Nigeria have kept the gold-winning streak at this event since 2018.
