The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over allegations that he was involved in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
In a statement on Thursday, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Major Oluwatope Aluko, said preliminary investigations showed that Amutu, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
“The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements,” the statement read.
The Corps said efforts were ongoing to track and apprehend the soldier to enable a full investigation and determine appropriate disciplinary measures in line with military regulations.
It reiterated that the Nigerian Army maintains zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline or any action capable of undermining the operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation of the military or posing a threat to national security.
The NAOC warned that any personnel found to have assisted terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full consequences of military and civil laws.
The Corps appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in locating the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful information to contact the nearest military formation or security agency.
“The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps reassures Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets,” it said.
The Corps added that it would continue to strengthen internal controls, investigate allegations of misconduct and ensure that personnel found culpable are held accountable.
