Latest data from Nigeria’s telecommunications industry shows that active mobile subscriptions rose to 188.01 million in April, with Globacom accounting for 23.18 million of the total.
The figures, released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Thursday, indicate continued growth in mobile connectivity following the recent verification of subscriber data across telecommunications networks.
The data also showed that teledensity increased to 86.73 per cent, while broadband subscriptions climbed to 120.68 million, reflecting rising demand for voice and internet services across the country.
With its subscriber base, Globacom is positioned for further growth in data services, youth-focused offerings, small business connectivity and customer retention ahead of its 23rd anniversary in August.
The telecom operator has continued to target the mass market through affordable products, including its Talkmasta tariff plan and enhanced welcome bonuses for new and existing subscribers.
Industry analysts said competition among telecom operators was gradually shifting away from subscriber acquisition towards active usage, network quality and broader broadband adoption.
They noted that the NIN-SIM linkage exercise and the removal of inactive lines had made verified active subscriptions a more reliable measure of market performance.
According to analysts, Globacom’s 23.18 million active subscribers provide a strong foundation for deeper customer engagement, improved service delivery and a stronger position in Nigeria’s expanding broadband market.
