EkitiDecides2026: Oyebanji dismisses vote-buying allegation after voting

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has dismissed allegations of voter intimidation, harassment and vote-buying during the ongoing governorship election, challenging accusers to provide evidence.

The allegations were raised earlier by the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dare Bejide, who claimed that APC members were distributing money to voters at a polling unit and called on security agencies to investigate the matter.

Reacting after casting his vote at Polling Unit 003, Okelele, Ikogosi-Ekiti, in Ekiti West Local Government Area, Oyebanji said claims of electoral misconduct should be backed by credible proof.

“Anyone making such allegations should provide evidence,” the governor said.

Oyebanji, who voted alongside his wife, Olayemi, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, describing the process as peaceful and orderly.

He also urged eligible voters who had yet to cast their ballots to turn out peacefully and exercise their democratic rights.
