FG launches new platform to boost tax compliance

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele
The Federal Government on Wednesday launched Rev360, a digital tax administration platform designed to enhance tax compliance, simplify taxpayer interactions, and strengthen revenue collection as part of broader efforts to modernise Nigeria’s tax system.

The platform was unveiled at the headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) in Abuja at an event attended by senior government officials, development partners, professional bodies, business associations, tax consultants, and taxpayers.

Representing the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, the Permanent Secretary (Special Duties) in the ministry, Mohammed Danjuma, described the initiative as a significant milestone in modernising the country’s revenue administration architecture.

He said efficient tax administration is central to economic growth, as it promotes voluntary compliance, improves transparency, and strengthens investor confidence.

“When tax administration becomes more efficient, compliance becomes easier. When compliance becomes easier, businesses can focus more on growth and productivity,” Oyedele said.

“As Nigeria continues its journey towards greater economic competitiveness and sustainable growth, initiatives such as Rev360 will play an important role in strengthening governance, supporting voluntary compliance, improving transparency, and creating a more enabling environment for business to thrive.”

He added that the administration’s reform agenda is anchored on strong institutions, improved fiscal management, digital transformation, and greater efficiency in public sector operations.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, said the platform would support efforts to improve the ease of doing business and advance Nigeria’s ambition of building a $1 trillion economy.

She noted that earlier attempts to automate tax processes had laid the groundwork for ongoing reforms, while commending the revenue authority for improving service delivery and responding to stakeholder concerns.

“The Tinubu administration is committed to seeing this economy well above $1tn, and these are the building blocks,” she said.

Oduwole also praised the leadership of the NRS for embracing technology to enhance engagement with taxpayers and businesses.

The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, said the platform reflects the agency’s transformation from a traditional revenue collector into a technology-driven institution.

“Nigerian Revenue Service is no more an accounting agency. It’s now a technology agency,” he said.

“This is the future. And it’s not for us to dream the future. We just have to build that future.”

In her welcome address, the Executive Director of the Medium and Emerging Taxpayers Group, Bolaji Akintola, said Rev360 was designed to improve the taxpayer experience by simplifying registration, filing, payment, and support services.

She said taxpayers increasingly expect public services to match the speed, convenience, and transparency of private sector systems.

“What excites us most about Rev360 is not merely its technological capability, but its practical impact on taxpayers,” she said.

Akintola added that the platform enhances visibility of taxpayer obligations, streamlines key processes, strengthens support systems, and promotes a more collaborative relationship between taxpayers and the revenue authority.

The Chief of Staff to the NRS Chairman, Mr Tayo Koleosho, said Rev360 is a one-stop integrated platform covering registration, assessment, payment, audit, customer service, and compliance management.

He said the system would reduce administrative burdens on businesses while improving revenue collection and voluntary compliance.

“It is about collecting more revenue for the country, but helping businesses so there is not a disruptive process,” he said.

Koleosho added that the platform would also generate stronger data insights for businesses and policymakers to support decision-making and economic planning.

The Executive Director of Technology at the NRS, Mr Iniabasi Akpan, said Rev360 was developed in response to evolving taxpayer expectations and future demands of revenue administration.

He said the platform integrates registration, filing, payments, reporting, compliance management, support services, and operational intelligence into a unified system.

“Rev360 was not developed because new technologies are available. It was built because there’s a future,” he said.

Akpan added that the system marks a shift from digital administration to intelligent administration, enabling real-time visibility, improved workflows, stronger compliance monitoring, enhanced taxpayer support, and data-driven decision-making.

The launch featured demonstrations of key processes including taxpayer registration, filing, payment, and reporting, as well as a panel discussion on operational readiness, stakeholder engagement, taxpayer support, and implementation lessons.

The NRS said Rev360 aligns with its vision of a modern, transparent, and data-driven revenue system capable of meeting the evolving needs of taxpayers and the Nigerian economy.

The development comes as the agency warned that persistent tax leakages, delayed remittances, and weak compliance by some government institutions and sub-national entities could undermine its target of generating about N40 trillion in revenue for the federation in 2026.
