FBI arrests nine in Nigeria over cybercrime, seizes 53 devices

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced the arrest of nine suspects linked to scam centres operating across Nigeria.

FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed this in a statement on Monday, adding that authorities had identified $11 million in potentially freezable funds across multiple countries.

According to Patel, the suspects allegedly operated scam centres in Nigeria, targeting innocent victims, stealing their life savings and conducting activities across international borders in the belief that they were beyond the reach of law enforcement.

“They’re wrong,” Patel said.

The FBI director commended Nigerian law enforcement agencies and their partners in London for their cooperation in the operation.
