The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zone 12, Bauchi, has intercepted a dangerously overloaded vehicle carrying passengers seated on top of piled goods along the Bauchi–Kari route in the Darazo Unit Command.
The Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Osondu Ohaeri, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ohaeri described the act as a reckless endangerment of human life, noting that the vehicle was in clear violation of safety regulations.
He said the situation posed a serious safety risk, as the passengers were fully exposed to potential fatalities in the event of a crash, sudden braking, or loss of control.
According to him, overloading is not merely a traffic offence but a dangerous practice with potentially deadly consequences.
“Overloading compromises vehicle stability, increases stopping distance, and places both passengers and other road users in grave danger,” he said.
Ohaeri stressed that such practices significantly increase the likelihood of road crashes and fatalities, warning that no journey justifies the loss of human life.
He urged drivers and vehicle owners to strictly adhere to prescribed loading limits, insisting that human beings must never be treated as cargo under any circumstance.
The FRSC spokesperson reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to intensifying enforcement against traffic violations and improving road safety nationwide.
