Josephine “Joanna” Iwoh and Unekwuojo “Kulture” Ameh were the latest housemates to exit Big Brother Naija Season 10 during Sunday’s live eviction, themed “Ten Over Ten.” The announcement came as a shock to both the housemates and the live audience, with host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, dressed in a Sonny Okosun-inspired outfit, revealing their eviction in front of a stunned crowd.
The eviction followed the close of voting on Thursday, with Deloitte compiling the results, which were then confirmed by M-Net. Biggie wasted no time, instructing Joanna and Kulture to pack their bags and exit the house within ten seconds.
As tradition dictates, Ebuka took the opportunity to quiz the contestants on alliances, tensions, and the week’s highlights, posing direct questions to housemates, including Dede, Joanna, Jason Jae, Sultana, and Kulture. The atmosphere was tense as Ebuka probed into the dynamics of the house.
Earlier in the show, Thelma Lawson and Bright “Morgan” Mbata, who were evicted in a surprise twist on Saturday, shared their feelings about being sent home so suddenly. Their eviction had taken the housemates and fans by surprise, coming immediately after the Saturday night party, leaving the contestants reeling. It marked the first time this season that an eviction occurred on a Saturday, making the announcement even more dramatic.
Ebuka entered the house in person during the show, delivering an electrifying moment before dropping the bombshell eviction news. “More evictions are coming tomorrow. A lot can be lost in two weeks,” he warned, further heightening the tension among housemates.
The surprise Saturday eviction particularly stunned the contestants, who had initially suspected it was another fake eviction like the one staged for Rooboy, Dede, and Joanna earlier in the season. The twist, with voting results collated before Sunday, shattered the usual rhythm and added to the mounting pressure ahead of the next live show.
The exit of Joanna and Kulture marked the beginning of back-to-back evictions, totaling four over the weekend—a record-breaking twist that has kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Joanna, 21, from Benue State, is a fashion creator who aimed to showcase her raw, unfiltered self on the show. She had previously survived a fake eviction earlier this season and had been consistently nominated. Throughout her time in the house, Joanna expressed a strong ambition to win Head of House, while also developing a close friendship with Faith, who once invited her into the Head of House lounge.
Kulture, 27, a sailor from Kogi State, described himself as a “vibe-bringer with multiple talents.” He enjoyed Head of House suite privileges after being selected as a partner by Tracy. Despite his entertaining energy, Kulture faced a serious warning from Big Brother for threatening violence, which was deemed to have “malicious intent.” His journey in the house, though turbulent, was marked by moments of both humor and controversy, earning him a mix of admiration and criticism. His departure ended a colorful but stormy run.
The eviction process this season has been fast-paced and full of surprises. Danboskid and Ibifubara were the first to be evicted from the house on August 10, followed by Sabrina, who voluntarily exited the show on medical grounds on August 11. On August 17, Otega and Kayikunmi left, while Victory and Gigi Jasmine were evicted on August 24.
A triple eviction on September 7 saw Big Soso, Ivatar, and Doris leave the house. Dede, Joanna, and Rooboy had another shot at staying in the house after the ‘red telephone call’ fake eviction twist last week. Denari and Tracy were evicted on September 14, while Thelma and Bright were sent home on Saturday.
With Joanna and Kulture’s exit, the remaining housemates are now down to 13, from an initial 29, as the competition for the ₦150 million grand prize intensifies. With only two weeks left in the season, the pressure is mounting for the remaining contestants as the finish line draws near.
