FG to roll out 250-unit housing estate in 12 states — Minister

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa
The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, is currently constructing 250 housing units under the Renewed Hope Estate initiative across 12 states spanning the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, disclosed this on Friday during an inspection visit to the construction site of the Renewed Hope City and Estate in Lambu, Kano State.

He revealed that preparations are underway to launch similar projects in the remaining 24 states, as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s broader agenda to provide accessible and affordable housing for all Nigerians.

In addition to the estate projects, the federal government is also developing Renewed Hope Cities — one in each geopolitical zone and the Federal Capital Territory. According to the minister, construction in Kano, Lagos, and the FCT is at an advanced stage, while work in the North East, North Central, South South, and South East zones is set to begin soon.

Dangiwa commended the contractors working on the Kano Renewed Hope Estate for their progress despite delays in payments and assured them that their outstanding dues would be settled soon.

The minister and his team also visited the site of the Kano 2,000-Unit Renewed Hope City, which is being developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) financing arrangement. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and urged developers to meet the completion target of August 2025.

“Housing is a top priority of this administration. President Tinubu is committed to bridging Nigeria’s housing deficit by ensuring affordable housing is available to all Nigerians, regardless of income level,” Dangiwa stated.

In response to concerns raised by contractors over unpaid fees, the minister reassured them of the government’s commitment to fulfilling its financial obligations.

“I urge you not to despair. Your payments will be processed and disbursed as soon as practicable,” he said.

The inspection was conducted alongside the Minister of State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Yusuf Ata, and senior officials of the ministry.
