The Labour Party’s governorship candidate for Anambra State, George Moghalu, has officially unveiled his running mate, Ifeoma Okaro, as preparations intensify for the November 8, 2025, governorship election.
Speaking at a meeting with local government officials, ward chairmen, and party secretaries in Awka on Friday, Moghalu expressed strong confidence in the party’s victory.
He emphasized the importance of party unity, urging members to work collaboratively to ensure success at the polls. Moghalu assured attendees that the Labour Party would mount a robust grassroots campaign, encouraging local leaders to actively promote the party’s agenda within their communities.
Distancing the Labour Party from traditional political alliances, he underscored that the party was distinct and committed to delivering on its promises.
On accountability, Moghalu pledged to uphold transparency and honor the trust placed in him by supporters.
Highlighting the party’s strong backing, he noted that former presidential candidate Peter Obi is fully supporting their campaign and is expected to make a public endorsement soon.
His running mate, Ifeoma Okaro, called on women to unite behind their candidacy, praising Moghalu for his sensitivity to gender and religious inclusiveness. She urged women—who she identified as key voters—to fully rally behind the Labour Party to secure a win.
