Bayern Munich have reached a verbal agreement in principle with England captain Harry Kane over a new long-term contract that would keep the striker at the German club until June 2029.
According to transfer journalist Michael Bridge, with Fabrizio Romano also reporting the development on X on Thursday, the key terms of the proposed deal, including salary and contract duration, have been agreed.
The contract documents are now with lawyers for final checks and approval, with the signing expected to take place as soon as possible. Kane has also given his personal approval to the extension.
Romano reported: “Bayern reach a verbal agreement in principle with Harry Kane over new long-term deal until June 2029.
“All set on salary, length and documents now in lawyers’ hands to check, approve then sign as soon as possible.”
Kane’s current contract with Bayern runs until the summer of 2027. The proposed extension would add two more years to his deal, keeping the 33-year-old at the Allianz Arena until he is 35.
The England captain joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 in a club-record transfer and has established himself as one of the club’s most influential players.
He has scored more than 150 goals in approximately 154 appearances across all competitions, won the Bundesliga Golden Boot in each of his seasons in Germany and helped Bayern secure domestic silverware.
His impressive performances for both club and country have also strengthened his standing among the leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Negotiations between Bayern and Kane have progressed positively in recent weeks, with previous reports indicating that both parties were closing in on an agreement over the main terms.
Bayern officials, including sporting director Christoph Freund, have also described the discussions as “very positive”, highlighting Kane’s happiness at the club while stressing that the agreement would not be final until the contract is signed.
The proposed extension would underline Bayern’s commitment to keeping their prolific striker in Munich for the foreseeable future as they continue to compete for major domestic and European honours.
