Michael Carrick will remain in charge of Manchester United next season after guiding the club to a third-place finish in the Premier League.
Manchester United confirmed on Friday that Carrick has signed a new contract to continue as head coach.
The 44-year-old former United midfielder took over on an interim basis after Ruben Amorim was dismissed in January and went on to steer the team to a strong run of form that secured Champions League qualification.
In a club statement, United said: “We are delighted to announce Michael Carrick will continue as our head coach, having signed a new contract.”
Carrick expressed pride in continuing his journey at Old Trafford.
“From the moment I arrived here 20 years ago, I felt the magic of Manchester United. Carrying the responsibility of leading this special football club fills me with immense pride,” he said.
“Over the past five months, this group of players has shown they can reach the standards of resilience, togetherness and determination that we demand here.
“Now it is time to move forward together again, with ambition and a clear sense of purpose. Manchester United and our incredible supporters deserve to be challenging for the biggest honours again.”
