Two senatorial aspirants withdraw ahead of APC primaries in Kebbi

Two prominent aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru have withdrawn from the party’s senatorial primary elections scheduled for May 18, 2026.

Na’Allah, a former senator who represented Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal in a letter dated May 17 and addressed to the APC State Chairman in Birnin Kebbi.

Explaining his decision, Na’Allah said: “After careful consultations and credible information available to me regarding the disposition of the party toward the forthcoming primary election, I have decided to withdraw from the contest.”

He noted that despite his longstanding commitment and sacrifices toward the growth of the APC as a founding member at both the state and national levels, he chose to step aside in the interest of party unity.

“I have dedicated over 14 years to building and strengthening this party. My decision is borne out of respect for the unity, peace, and progress of the APC,” he stated.

The former lawmaker also expressed appreciation to his supporters and constituents, especially those who contributed financially toward the purchase of his nomination form.

“I remain grateful to my supporters and the good people of Kebbi South for their trust, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout this journey,” he added.

Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, popularly known as Kabiru Sani Giant, who was contesting for the APC ticket for Kebbi Central Senatorial District, also announced his withdrawal from the race.

In a letter dated May 16 and addressed to the party leadership, Kabiru said his decision was guided by “personal, political, and strategic considerations.”

He thanked party leaders, campaign coordinators, and supporters for standing by him throughout his political aspiration.

“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity shown to me by party stakeholders, supporters, and members of my campaign team,” Kabiru stated.

Kabiru reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued support for the party’s future electoral successes.

“My commitment to the APC remains unwavering, and I will continue to work for the success and stability of our great party,” he added.

The withdrawals come amid increasing political realignments and internal maneuvering within the APC in Kebbi State ahead of the senatorial primaries.
