The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has unveiled an ambitious set of reforms designed to transform the organization into a modern, innovative, and digitally-driven institution.
In a statement issued on Monday by its Director of Corporate Communications, Franklin Alao, NIPOST announced that the reforms, which operate under the theme “Change of Renewed Hope Berths at NIPOST Shores,” are aimed at aligning the agency with global best practices, addressing the demands of Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital economy, and supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
At the heart of these reforms, NIPOST emphasized its commitment to innovation, accountability, value, and service excellence.
The agency assured Nigerians that it would deliver a revitalized postal service, one that not only embraces technological advancements but also maintains superior service quality.
NIPOST also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, for his unwavering support and leadership in driving the transformation. Additionally, it commended Barrister Isaac Kekemeke, Chairman of the NIPOST Board, for his strategic vision, and Postmaster General/Chief Executive Officer, Tola Odeyemi, for spearheading institutional reforms, enhancing staff welfare, and advancing capacity development.
Among the notable initiatives, NIPOST introduced a performance-based reward and recognition system to foster excellence within its workforce. Furthermore, strict disciplinary measures will be enforced to uphold the agency’s integrity.
A cornerstone of the reforms is NIPOST’s shift to a fully cashless system. Starting July 1, 2025, the agency will no longer accept cash payments at post office counters across Nigeria. Customers will be required to conduct all transactions via approved electronic payment channels.
The statement outlined that this move is a vital component of NIPOST’s modernization efforts, aimed at providing safer, faster, and more transparent services.
Through these reforms, NIPOST aims to reposition itself as a dynamic, technology-driven organization at the forefront of Nigeria’s digital transformation, with a renewed mission: “Connecting Nigeria, Delivering Solutions, and Improving Lives.”
