The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, is attending the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This marks his debut at the meeting following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu after the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in March 2025.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is presiding over the meeting, which is attended by a number of state governors and deputy governors from across Nigeria’s 36 states.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), led the opening prayers at the meeting upon Vice President Shettima’s request.
Other governors in attendance include Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, and Bassey Otu of Cross River, among others. Several deputy governors were also present at the session.
