Nigerian actress and comedian Wofai Fada and her husband, Taiwo Cole, have announced the arrival of their first child, a baby girl.
In a heartwarming Instagram post on Saturday, Fada posted pictures of her newborn, prompting an outpouring of congratulations from friends, colleagues, and followers. Expressing her gratitude to God, she referred to the arrival of her daughter as a “precious gift,” adding that her joy was now complete. She also revealed the baby’s name as Ifedayo Konaghai Cole.
“We are forever grateful to God for this precious gift. Our princess is here. My joy is complete,” Fada wrote in her post.
The actress and her husband tied the knot legally on October 27, 2024, following months of public controversy surrounding their relationship. In May 2024, videos from their traditional wedding in Calabar, Cross River, stirred debate, particularly after Taiwo’s family issued a statement rejecting the union.
The legal ceremony took place at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos, and Fada shared the moment with her 1.2 million Instagram followers, captioning her post: “Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favourite. Legally hitched. @taiwo.cole.7 #TWOforever. #MrsCole. #2 of 3, and forever to go.”
In response to the wedding, Taiwo’s family, led by patriarch Kunle Cole, publicly distanced themselves from the union. The statement, issued by the Cole family, denied any knowledge or approval of the marriage, and urged the public to disregard any associated publications.
In the midst of the ongoing family tension, Fada’s followers flooded her Instagram comments with congratulatory messages following the announcement of their daughter’s birth.
Among the well-wishers was media mogul Mo Abudu, who commented, “Congratulations, my darling. She is beautiful.” Nollywood actress Nancy Isime also shared her congratulations, as did actor IK Ogbonna and Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala, with several others offering heart emojis.
Fada’s close friend, Rachael Okangbe, also shared her excitement: “When I saw a missed call from you, I felt maybe she has put to bed. God is awesome. Big congrats, super mum.”
As the new parents celebrate their daughter’s arrival, the love and support from their fans continue to pour in, adding to the joy of their growing family.
