Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made a surprise appearance on the runway at the 2026 Lagos Fashion Week, joining professional models to showcase a stylish ensemble by Nigerian designer Ugo Monye.
The governor stole the spotlight as he walked down the runway in a regal off-white outfit that combined traditional Nigerian caftan styling with a kimono-inspired design. He completed the look with a beige fedora, adding a touch of elegance to the ensemble.
Sanwo-Olu confidently strutted across the runway to the applause of the audience, flashing peace signs and exchanging friendly nods with spectators.
The governor’s appearance added an unexpected highlight to the fashion event, which is celebrating African creativity, craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
The 2026 Lagos Fashion Week, themed “CRAFTED: Heritage,” commenced last Wednesday at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos and is scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
