Artificial intelligence will eventually become an integral part of every company and industry, Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang has said, urging Europe to accelerate the development of its artificial intelligence ecosystem.
“Every single company will be an AI company eventually. Every single industry will be impacted by AI,” Huang told an event in Stockholm late Thursday during a European tour that includes a Nvidia-hosted conference in Berlin next week.
He stressed the need for Europe to develop the entire artificial intelligence technology chain, from data centres and computing infrastructure to chatbots and other applications.
“The important thing for us is to recognise that Europe needs to build out the entire stack,” Huang said.
Speaking to AFP later, the Nvidia chief revealed that the company had invested $8bn in Europe over the past year as part of efforts to strengthen the region’s AI industry.
“We’ve strategically invested in different parts of that ecosystem, really high quality companies that we believe could help lift it, the whole ecosystem in Europe,” he said, citing British data centre and AI cloud provider Nscale and Dutch cloud provider Nebius as examples.
“In the last one year, we’ve invested $8 billion already. We have another couple of billion dollars in the pipeline,” he added. “We’re helping Europe create the AI ecosystem.”
Huang was in Stockholm for the launch of Sferical One, a Swedish supercomputer powered by Nvidia chips that is designed to keep sensitive Swedish data and expertise within the country.
His visit also coincided with an announcement by Volvo Cars that it was expanding its partnership with Nvidia to improve safety technology in its planned self-driving vehicles.
The developments highlight growing efforts by European companies and technology providers to strengthen domestic AI capabilities, expand computing infrastructure and develop advanced applications across industries.
