Agbara Nla’ hits ₦307m, becomes Nollywood’s fourth highest-grossing film of 2026

Nollywood faith-based film Agbára Nlá: The Return has grossed more than ₦307.2m at the box office, with its distributors describing the achievement as a record for an October release.

The film’s distributor, Nile Group, announced the milestone in a post on Instagram on Friday, thanking audiences for their support and describing the production as the highest-grossing Nollywood title ever released in October and the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026.

“Thank you, Nigeria! Agbára Nlá: The Return has grossed ₦307.2M+, the highest-grossing Nollywood title ever for an October release and the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood title of 2026,” the announcement read.

The latest figures represent a significant increase from the more than ₦170.6m the film earned within its first four days in cinemas, as previously reported by PUNCH Online.

Nile Group announced the earlier milestone on October 5, describing the film’s opening performance as a major achievement.

“The revival is here. The power is moving. Agbara Nla: The Return opened with ₦170.6m+. It can only be God,” the distributor said.

The company also expressed appreciation to moviegoers for the strong turnout, noting that the film recorded packed cinemas and sold-out screenings.

“Thank you, everyone, for the packed cinemas, SOLD-OUT shows and incredible love,” it added.

At the time, the distributor described the film’s opening performance as the biggest non-December opening weekend for a Nollywood film, the biggest October opening weekend and the biggest opening weekend for a faith-based film.

Agbára Nlá: The Return is a remake of the 1993 Christian film created by veteran filmmaker Mike Bamiloye. The new production was directed by his sons, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua “Jay Mikee” Mike-Bamiloye.

The film returned to cinemas on October 1, 2026, more than three decades after the original production, attracting audiences and recording strong box-office earnings during its opening period.
