Barcelona have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Spanish midfielder Rodri, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reported on Sunday that the two clubs had reached an agreement, using his trademark “Here we go!” to signal that the transfer is set to go ahead.
According to the journalist, Manchester City gave Barcelona the green light after accepting the Catalan club’s improved offer for the former Ballon d’Or winner.
The agreement ends weeks of negotiations between the two clubs, with Barcelona increasing their bid after City rejected earlier proposals for the midfielder. The final deal is reportedly worth around €70 million.
Rodri, 30, has been a key figure in Manchester City’s success since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in 2019.
The midfielder played a pivotal role in City’s historic treble during the 2022/23 season and was instrumental in the club’s domestic and European successes. His performances also earned him the 2024 Ballon d’Or, making him the first Manchester City player to win the prestigious individual award.
A move to Barcelona would see Rodri return to Spanish football and add experience, defensive solidity and control to the Catalan club’s midfield.
The transfer remains subject to the completion and exchange of final documentation before it can be formally announced.
Rodri’s potential arrival would represent one of Barcelona’s major moves of the summer transfer window as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
