England booked their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 after captain Harry Kane scored twice to inspire a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over a resilient DR Congo.

The Three Lions were rocked early when Brian Cipenga fired the Leopards into the lead in the seventh minute, threatening one of the tournament’s biggest upsets.

However, Kane rose to the occasion, drawing England level midway through the second half before striking the decisive winner five minutes from time to seal the comeback and send Thomas Tuchel’s side into the knockout stage.

England will now face co-hosts Mexico in the Round of 16.
