Gunmen have reportedly killed a retired staff member of Ogun State Television (OGTV), Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” along with her security guard at her residence in Agodo community, situated along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway.

The incident is believed to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday, although details surrounding the attack remain unclear.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.

A source familiar with the incident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victims were discovered after church members became concerned about Oyesiku’s absence from a church service.

“What we heard was that some church members went to check on Mrs Oyesiku after noticing she was absent from church,” the source said.

“When they got to her residence, they found the security guard dead. Further checks revealed that Mrs Oyesiku had also been killed by the assailants. They immediately raised the alarm, which drew the attention of residents in the community.”

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident and said the command would issue an official statement after preliminary investigations.

Oyesiku was a respected media professional who served with Ogun State Television before her retirement. News of her death has sparked shock and grief among former colleagues, friends and residents of the state, many of whom have described her as a dedicated broadcaster and community figure.
