The late Kogi Poly Lecturer, Mr Anslem Ojodomo
A lecturer at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Mr. Anselm Ojodomo, has died after collapsing while teaching in class.

The Rector of the polytechnic, Prof. Salihu Avidime, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Friday by the Acting Co-ordinator of the Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. John Onimisi, describing the development as a “deep personal shock.”

Ojodomo’s death has sent shockwaves through the institution, coming just a month after another lecturer, Dr. Barnabas Akuba, passed away shortly after completing his PhD program. The sudden losses have raised concerns among staff and students.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that Ojodomo collapsed while addressing his students. Despite immediate efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The Rector extended heartfelt condolences to the polytechnic community and the family of the late lecturer, noting that Ojodomo was a member of the Department of Public Administration.

“The Polytechnic community is mourning the loss of a promising academic and dependable colleague, who embodied scholarship, service, and character,” Prof. Avidime said. “Ojodomo’s contributions as Deputy Dean, Student Services, and as a lecturer were impactful and inspiring. He was humble, dedicated, and committed to excellence.”

Ojodomo had recently defended his PhD proposal and held a Master’s degree from Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba. He joined Kogi State Polytechnic in 2021 and served on several committees.

Born on 5 October 1992, Anselm Victory Ojodomo passed away on 27 March 2026. The polytechnic community has commiserated with his family and the people of Igalamela/Odolu, praying for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
