A section of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation building in Abuja was gutted by fire on Monday morning.
Eyewitnesses said the blaze was first noticed around 8:20 a.m., with thick smoke billowing from part of the structure.
The fire reportedly broke out in Section C of the building within the Head of Service complex, prompting staff to evacuate the area as emergency responders were alerted.
The media department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed the incident, saying the outbreak was confined to Section C and was being handled by emergency officials.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Authorities are expected to begin an investigation once the situation is fully brought under control.
