The National Assembly has postponed the resumption of plenary from Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, who attributed the shift to the need for committees to conclude ongoing budget defence sessions.
According to the statement, the postponement is intended to allow committees sufficient time to complete their review of the 2026 Appropriation Bill. Several panels are still engaging ministries, departments and agencies in detailed budget defence meetings.
“This is to inform Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the National Assembly that the resumption of plenary earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 24 February 2026, has been postponed,” the statement read.
“This postponement is to enable committees of the Assembly to conclude ongoing budget defence sessions.”
Plenary will now reconvene in both chambers on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Lawmakers have been urged to take note of the new date and time.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are expected to resume at 11:00 a.m. on March 5 to continue plenary proceedings. The leadership expressed regret for any inconvenience the change may cause and appealed to members for their understanding.
