The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a consignment of cocaine concealed in phone chargers and allegedly destined for Saudi Arabia.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed this in a post on X on Sunday, warning that drug traffickers were increasingly concealing illicit substances in everyday items to evade detection.
Babafemi said the items appeared to be ordinary phone chargers, but NDLEA operatives discovered cocaine hidden inside them.
“On the surface value, these are phone chargers but @ndlea_nigeria officers won’t fall for that. Concealed in there are consignments of cocaine going to Saudi Arabia,” he said.
He said the seizure reinforced the agency’s repeated warning to members of the public against accepting or helping to deliver parcels and luggage for others without properly verifying their contents.
“This is why we keep warning people not to help anyone deliver any parcel or luggage on their face value because of the desperation by traffickers,” Babafemi said.
The agency urged members of the public to exercise caution and avoid transporting packages on behalf of others without knowing their contents.
