The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday commenced the screening of aspirants seeking elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan among those cleared for the exercise for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The screening, held in Lokoja, Kogi State, brought together aspirants vying for various positions under the PDP platform as preparations intensify for the party primaries.

The exercise marks an early phase of political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties begin internal processes to select candidates for key contests nationwide.

In a statement issued in Abuja by her aide, Mike Idoko, Akpoti-Uduaghan confirmed her participation and successful completion of the screening.

Speaking after the exercise, she expressed appreciation to party leaders, supporters and constituents in Kogi Central for their continued confidence in her leadership.

“Today, I travelled to Lokoja to participate in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) screening exercise for aspirants seeking elective offices in the 2027 general elections,” she said.

“Taking no chances, I arrived fully prepared with all required credentials and supporting documents. I am pleased to have successfully completed the screening exercise as part of the process ahead of the party primaries for the 2027 Kogi Central Senatorial election under the platform of the PDP.”

The senator described the screening as an important democratic process and reaffirmed her commitment to quality representation and service delivery.

“This represents a renewed commitment to quality representation, purposeful leadership, and continued service to the people,” she stated.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also outlined her second-term agenda, pledging to focus on youth and women empowerment, expansion of educational opportunities through scholarships and learning support, rural road rehabilitation, improved healthcare delivery, and stronger support for small businesses across the five local government areas of Kogi Central.

She further promised to intensify efforts to attract federal projects, improve electricity supply, strengthen community security collaboration, and promote policies aimed at job creation and economic growth.

The senator stressed that her political mission remains rooted in service, unity and inclusive leadership.

“For love, people, service and 2027,” she declared.

According to the statement, supporters across Kogi Central have continued to express optimism over her participation in the screening process, describing it as a key step toward the PDP primaries and the 2027 general elections.

Her anticipated re-election bid is also said to be gaining momentum amid growing backing from party stakeholders and grassroots supporters.
