The Embassy of India in Tehran on Monday advised Indian nationals in Iran to leave the country using all available means of transport, including commercial flights, citing the evolving security situation marked by protests and demonstrations.
According to a report by The Economic Times, the mission urged Indians in Iran including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists to depart at the earliest opportunity.
The advisory follows earlier notices issued on January 5 and January 14, in which the embassy had already called for caution.
In its latest statement, the mission urged Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin to avoid areas witnessing protests or public gatherings and to remain in regular contact with the embassy for updates. It also advised nationals to closely monitor local media and official communications.
“All Indians should keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identification papers, readily available at all times,” the advisory stated.
The embassy further called on Indians who have not yet registered with the mission to do so through the online form available on its website. In the event of internet disruptions in Iran, families in India were requested to complete the registration process on behalf of their relatives.
The renewed advisory comes amid heightened security concerns, as India reiterates its appeal for citizens in Iran to prioritise their safety and make necessary arrangements to leave the country promptly.
