Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa as the Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), with the appointment taking immediate effect.

A statement posted on the state government’s official X handle on Friday revealed that Ogunmuyiwa received his appointment letter on Thursday at the Office of the Head of Service, Alausa, Ikeja. The letter was presented by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro.

According to the statement, Ogunmuyiwa is a seasoned education administrator with more than 25 years of experience in school evaluation, planning, quality assurance systems, and educational leadership within the Lagos State Government.

Ogunmuyiwa has served in several strategic capacities at the OEQA, including Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and Director of Private Education and Special Programmes. In these roles, he supervised school accreditation, quality monitoring, and system improvement programmes. He is also a multiple award-winning officer, repeatedly recognised as OEQA’s Best Staff between 2012 and 2022.

Beyond his administrative achievements, he is an active member of several professional bodies and has made significant contributions to teacher development, school improvement frameworks, and community-based educational initiatives. He is also widely known as a mentor to civil servants and young professionals, having facilitated training programmes for both government institutions and private organisations.

Congratulating the new Director-General, Agoro expressed confidence that Ogunmuyiwa would deploy his wealth of experience to strengthen the quality of education in Lagos State.

“I am confident that Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s appointment will further enhance the quality of education in Lagos State. I urge him to continue working tirelessly to ensure that our education system remains a model for others to emulate,” he said.

Ogunmuyiwa is expected to lead renewed efforts to strengthen monitoring, evaluation, and accountability across schools to ensure continuous improvement in the state’s education sector.
