FCT doctors suspend indefinite strike

The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) has suspended its indefinite strike after 30 days of industrial action.

Dr. George Ebong, President of ARD-FCTA, confirmed the development in a message to our correspondent on Monday.

The strike, which began on November 1, 2025, was suspended following the approval of the doctors’ demands by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

However, the association warned that it would not hesitate to resume industrial action if the FCTA fails to implement the approved demands within four weeks.

The ARD-FCTA represents doctors practicing in 14 district and general hospitals, including the Department of Public Health under the FCTA.

Dr. Ebong stated, “ARD-FCTA has suspended its strike for four weeks with the hope that the approvals from the Minister will be implemented.”

The doctors had embarked on the strike to press for better working conditions, improved welfare, fair remuneration, and other professional improvements.

The strike disrupted medical services across the FCT, causing delays in patient care and placing additional pressure on the remaining healthcare staff.
