The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has dismantled a major arms supply network linked to recent attacks in Plateau State and neighbouring communities, arresting a suspected weapons manufacturer and supplier.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the agency said the suspect had been producing and distributing high-calibre weapons and ammunition to armed groups responsible for violent assaults across Plateau and other northern states.
He was arrested on November 12, 2025, after intelligence led operatives to his arms-fabrication workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area.
During the raid, DSS operatives reportedly recovered components of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), chemicals, and equipment used for weapons production.
“Operatives of the Department of State Services have successfully disrupted a high-value arms supply network linked to terrorist activities in Plateau and neighbouring states,” the statement said.
“The operation led to the arrest of Musa Abubakar, a key arms dealer, following precise intelligence. The suspect confessed to manufacturing and supplying high-calibre weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau and other northern regions.”
The DSS noted that the raid was carried out after credible intelligence established the suspect’s activities and pinpointed the workshop.
The arrest comes days after the service recaptured Kuje Prison escapee Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as “Bomboy,” who is accused of involvement in the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.
The agency had earlier announced the arrest of nine other suspects, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol.
