Oleksandr Usyk cemented his place in boxing history on Saturday, defeating Daniel Dubois with a fifth-round knockout at London’s Wembley Stadium to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion.
The Ukrainian extended his perfect professional record to 24-0, unifying the WBA, WBC, WBO, and now IBF titles by adding Dubois’ belt to his collection.
Usyk, 38, who entered the ring 11 years older than his British opponent, took control early in the fifth round. He sent Dubois to the canvas with a signature left hook, ending the bout at 1:52 after Dubois failed to beat the count.
“Thirty-eight is a young guy, remember!” Usyk declared, moments after dropping to his knees in celebration.
