Rap legend Snoop Dogg has become a co-owner of English Championship side Swansea City, the club announced Thursday, marking a striking crossover between global music stardom and professional football.

The 53-year-old American entertainer, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, joins Croatian football icon Luka Modrić—former Real Madrid star and World Cup finalist—in the club’s evolving ownership group.

Snoop Dogg’s involvement was first hinted at last week when he appeared unexpectedly on Swansea’s social media platforms, modeling the club’s new home kit for the 2025–26 season. On Thursday, the club confirmed that the rapper is now officially an investor.

His entry into the club comes on the heels of an ownership reshuffle in November, when American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen took control of the Welsh side.

With more than 100 million followers across social media, Snoop Dogg is expected to play a key role in boosting Swansea’s global profile as the club aims for a return to the Premier League—having last played in the top flight in 2018.

Club officials say expanding commercial reach and generating additional revenue is a priority, with increased player investment subject to British football’s profit and sustainability regulations.

Speaking on Swansea’s official website, Snoop Dogg said: “My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City. The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

Modrić, 39, who recently joined AC Milan after leaving Real Madrid, was announced as a stakeholder in the club earlier this year.

Swansea’s ownership group celebrated Snoop’s arrival with a nod to his music: “To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is ‘the next episode’ for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club’s reach and profile. Snoop’s colossal global fanbase will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear throughout the process just how excited he is to be part of this journey.”

The move echoes the dramatic transformation of Welsh rivals Wrexham AFC, who soared to the Championship under the stewardship of Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who acquired the club in 2020.

Swansea now hopes to replicate some of that star-powered momentum as they pursue promotion and renewed success in the seasons ahead.
