Voting has commenced at Polling Unit 022, Ward F, Alausa, Ikeja—where President Bola Tinubu is expected to cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections in Lagos State.

Our correspondent observed that officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) arrived early, and both accreditation and voting began as scheduled.

By 8:40 a.m., voting was underway, with residents casting their ballots to elect a new chairman and councillor for the area.

There was a visible security presence at the polling unit, with police officers maintaining order while party agents monitored the process.

Voting was also reported at other polling units in the area, including Units 027, 113, 038, and 112, although turnout appeared low in the early hours, with only a handful of voters participating.

The local government elections are being held across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State, with voters selecting chairmen, vice-chairmen, and councillors.

At St. Peter’s Primary School, Polling Unit 003, a voter, Omolara Jemiriye, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise.

“I just voted for my candidate, and the process was smooth. There was no issue,” she said.
