Russia and Nigeria settled for a 1–1 draw in their international friendly on Friday, with both sides displaying grit and moments of quality in a closely contested encounter.

Russia took the lead in the 27th minute after Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi turned the ball into his own net, giving the hosts the advantage.

The Super Eagles responded in the second half, with Tolu Arokodare scoring the equaliser in the 71st minute to bring Nigeria level.

Despite enjoying only 42% possession compared to Russia’s 58%, Nigeria showed resilience and made their chances count. The Super Eagles registered six shots, with four on target, while Russia had 10 attempts but only two were on target.
